We all want the same thing

A few weeks ago, I saw on old high school friend at Trader Joes. He said he was picking up something to share while watching the presidential election debate. He then laughingly asked me, “I wonder if we are on the same side?” I replied, “You mean, the side of wanting peace and love for all? I bet we are.” He laughed again, nodding, “Yep, same side.”
I know you are on the same side too. We all want the same thing. We want good things for our country and world. So let’s work to make that happen. The first step is starting with ourselves- practice love. Then with our loved ones, practice love. If you want peace and love in your life, choose what you focus on and then act with love. It may be easier than you think.
Take action
Today (right now!), begin to slow your breath, and for this moment, name something you appreciate. You can start with “I am thankful I’m able to read, and that I own this electronic thing I am reading on– that is pretty cool!”. You can even say, “I’m appreciate that I have time to read emails or follow blog or social media that helps uplift me.” (Nice, eh?)
The thing is, the choice is yours. All day long. Choose love over fear. Choose appreciation over complaint. Choose kindness instead of meanness. Doing this puts more light into the world. This is the best practice there is. Tune into the light inside of you. You can do it, I know it!
And here’s a beautiful little poem that I got from Mrs. Mindfulness. She is a terrific woman in Australia, who writes and teaches about mindfulness– our ability to pay attention, on purpose, without judgment. It is my prayer and hope that we can all live more mindfully, as it helps us and the planet. It’s what we all want. <3
CHINESE PROVERB
If there is light in the soul,
there will be beauty in the person.
If there is beauty in the person,
there will be harmony in the house.
If there is harmony in the house,
there will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
there will be peace in the world.
If you feel like this stuff is kinda challenging (and it sure can be) feel free to call me and come in for a tune-up talk session. Coming in for counseling can be one of best ways to take care of your emotional well-being. If you ever have questions about what I can do to be of help to you or to a loved one, please call me. I am always happy to speak with you.
And for now– please take care, breathe, be kind to yourself and others. Choose love. Namaste.
